In conjunction with The Glebe Society Inc Special Glebe Music Festival Concert Duo Mimesi Programme: "Melodies in Motion"
Tickets: Full price $40, concession $20 (includes a light supper) through Mimesi: The word comes from the ancient Greek μίμησις (mimesis). In Aristotle’s aesthetic thought, mimesis is not merely imitation, but the artistic act through which human actions and emotions are shaped into a universal form. In the dialogue between the two pianists, sound becomes both gesture and narrative: the musical voices mirror one another, respond to each other, and gradually transform. In this way, the performance becomes an expressive space where music gives shape to something universal through the meeting of two interpreters.
Born in 1993 in Rome, Federico Bucaioni began his studies at an early age, supported by his family, particularly interested in culture and music. He studied with M° Lucia Bonfiglio, who was his sole teacher for many years. Their artistic collaboration continues to this day. In 2016, after his first months at the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome, he was selected to perform works by Maximilian Reger in commemoration of the centenary of the composer’s death. In the same year, he was invited to perform in the "Sala delle Armi" of Palazzo Sforza Cesarini in Genzano di Roma, as part of the concert series of the "Accademia degli Sfaccendati." During his studies, he attended numerous masterclasses with distinguished piano professors such as Pierluigi Camicia, Roberto Prosseda, Irene Veneziano, Drafi Kalman, and Bruno Canino. In 2020, he graduated from the Santa Cecilia Conservatory under the guidance of Maestro Riccardo Marini and Maestro Laura Mattei with the highest honors. He has performed in prestigious venues in Italy and abroad, including Palazzo Leti Sansi in Spoleto, Auditorium Casa delle Culture e della Musica in Velletri, Forum Theatre in Rome, Palazzo Sforza Cesarini in Genzano di Roma, Teatro Verdi in Sassari, Crystal Hall in Slovenia and Sala Eutherpe in Spain. In 2021, as the grand prize winner, he was invited to perform at the Lake Salon of the Grand Hotel Toplice in Bled, Slovenia, where he played works by Scarlatti, Beethoven, and Liszt. Over the years, he has received numerous awards, including:
In 2022, he was conducted by M° H.U. Passarella in performances of works by Luis Bacalov, J. Lamarque Pons, G. Matos Rodríguez, and M° Passarella himself, beginning a collaboration that continues to this day. They recently performed together at the "Teatro Forum" in Rome, playing with the "Orchestra Italiana del Cinema." Since early 2019, he has been organizing a series of concerts in Genzano di Roma, called "Musica Illustrata" ("Illustrated Music"), where the performer explains the pieces to be played, offering the audience an opportunity to better appreciate what they are about to hear. He frequently performs in chamber music ensembles and co-founded the Mìmesi Duo, collaborating with pianist Gioia Barbera. Their partnership has brought them to numerous venues across Italy, Slovenia, and more recently, India, where they have performed at the Deshmukh Auditorium in New Delhi and at the prestigious Mazda Hall in Pune.
